Goodness, I really do need to pay a little more attention to this blog. I can’t want more people to notice it when it’s barely updated now, can I?
As much as the internet enables people to share things, such as art(after all this is an artsite) with hundreds, thousands and even millions of people around, there is a slight downside to sharing your works with others online, and that downside is, of course, art theft.
Never could understand why people feel the need to steal someone’s work. To me, it seems a lot more rewarding to try and learn how to make things on your own and pick up a few tips and tricks from artists that you admire. But to blatantly steal it? Just doesn’t seem worth it to me. So with that in mind, I just spent a good hour looking through tutorials to disable right clicking on website’s and stopping people from viewing your site directory folders.
First I came up with this but figured it was too easy, so my brain said “Look for a HARDER tutorial!”…this is one of the many moments when I really shouldn’t listen to the ideas in my head…they aren’t productive ones. Then I tried following another tuorial and for a while, half of the site just wouldn’t work. Remember kids, read tutorial instructions carefully, it really does help. So after 20 minutes of googling more tutorials to fix my half broken site, finally went back to the easy way, put a lovely little index file into each folder that contains images, just that simple. And now a test….
All of the images for the site’s gallery are located in an art folder. Can you see it’s contents?
Now can you see that? If you said yes, then I did this right and I can be proud. Such a shame we live in a world where you have to worry about people stealing art and other things though…
