Starting inking another disgaea chibi today after doing a little cleaning around the house, writing up a lab report and customizing the look of this blog. Can’t believe the number of features built into this theme that I’ve only learned about after…a good 6 months of using it? Well it’s better late than never as they say! At least things are nice and organized now! Now that I’ve gotten the hang of using Paint Tool Sai, let’s see how long this line art will take.

Finally the lineart is finished! After having Corel Painter X crash on me and having to start over with Paint Tool Sai it’s finally complete. After working with Sai for inking this sketch I can say the program is pretty comparable to Painter and not as finicky when it comes to crashing, which is a very good thing.

I always find the colouring process to be the most enjoyable part of creating digital artwork.

Inking…not so much. A little less tedious with music though. Should do some pen lineart more often!

My favourite digital anime artist revamped her website a little under 24 hours ago! The simple layout and colour scheme has me inspired to get cracking on designing a new layout for this site. First I started playing around with patterns in photoshop and I have a think for pinstripes/scanlines…but then that’s been done to death. Going with the damask pattern I’ve been using for other layouts and armed with custom brushes and fonts, I went to town! Last time I designed I layout I used grays/green/orange and blue(so many colours, so little time), this time I think gray/pink and white is enough…keep it as simple as possible! Here’s a larger screenshot for your viewing pleasure.

Also…having 50 billion scroll bars sucks…just sayin’!

And now I can make colouring process videos! Just a matter of learning to add music and other stuff and I am SET FOR LIFE…well not really, but I’m still proud of myself! Of course the finished product of this can be found at the gallery!

Been on this kick of drawing those mameshiba things. Might as well try and make little vector pictures of them all!

Finally giving Paint Tool Sai a go since Corel Painter decided to one day crash on me and spit out this instead of the lineart I had been working on for a couple days. So after a string of curses, frantically searching for a file recovery program(with no luck), I just decided to give another program a try. I know quite a few people from deviantArt who use Sai for their inking and apparently Painter can be really funny if you try saving your work as a psd file as opposed to the default rif file. So after reading through tips and tricks to try and prevent this, if I ever use painter again, I’m definitely saving my work as rif files and making multiple copies of the work. It’s funny…with this file that ended up being corrupted, it was the one time that I didn’t make a copy. Greeeeeat!

My first new image of 2010! After participating in dA’s timeline meme, and writing about how certain situations keeping me from working on art, I figured it was time to change that. So while going about my day, doing random non-art things, it came to me! Since the beginning of the new year, there was tons of artwork featuring, pretty much cat girls in skimpy outfits in celebration of 2010 being the year of the tiger. So why not draw all of the chinese zodiac? So here I go…

I just couldn’t leave this one, after being super gung ho when I started sketching and inking this! I spent 20 minutes painting the moon, sheesh!

It never hurts to use a little shortcut when you’re nearly done working on something. Something that you’ve been going at on and off for a little while. I love you pentool…I love you so much!
